How to make PAL versions of NTSC DVD's

First, remember to use Region X to change the region to whatever is needed to play the disc.

Insert the disc.

In DVD Player, which will have auto-started, start playing the main feature and then click the info window till it shows you how many chapters are in it. This is important because MTR simply "guesses" what the main feature is going by it's size....the largest length item is not always the main feature.

So let's say the actual feature has XX chapters, remember this and close DVD Player.

Run MacTheRipper. It will automatically scan the disc and get ready for you.
Select "Main Feature Extraction" but in the slide out window, ensure what it thinks the main feature is matches what you found earlier by comparing the number of chapters and the total length.

Select THIS as your main feature and press GO (ensure "merge into one" is checked).

You should end up with a folder "[Movie Name]_Movie-Only" which contains an empty AUDIO_TS folder and a VIDEO_TS folder that contains .ifo, .bup and .vob files.

MTR will also have automatically removed empty space and thus you may get a smaller file than on the disc, but it is NOT compressed further in any way, MTR just gleans the raw data as is from the DVD.

Now drag'n'drop the whole VIDEO_TS folder into DVD Imager:

DVD Imager can create a Video DVD disk image using one of these two methods:
  1. a VIDEO_TS folder (a DVD with slideshow created using iDVD, copied from an iDVD created Video DVD, etc)
  2. the contents of DVD including the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS, and additional files and folders (such as a DVD with slideshow created using iDVD, a Video DVD created using iDVD, etc)
Step by step instructions for using DVD Imager
  1. Use iDVD or some other Video DVD tool to create
  2. Launch DVD Imager
  3. If you chose option A, be sure that VIDEO_TS folder mode is selected. If you chose option B, be sure that Disk Copy Mode is selected.
  4. Drag the VIDEO_TS folder onto either the DVD Imager Dock icon or the DVD Imager window. If you chose Disk Copy Mode (option B), DVD Imager will use the AUDIO_TS folder and additional files and folders found in the same location (folder) as the VIDEO_TS folder.
  5. Click "Create Image"..
  6. Specify the location where you want the disk image to be placed (if this is the first time you've created a disk image with DVD Imager, or if a checkmark appears in "Prompt for New Location").
  7. Enter the name of the DVD using only capital letters and underscores. This is the name that computer users will see when they insert your Video DVD into their computer
  8. Wait.
You can now review the Video DVD disk image by using the Finder to mount the .iso image (double click) and DVD Player to play the DVD by specifying the location of the VIDEO_TS folder in the mounted image. You can also burn the image to a blank DVD disk by choosing "Burn..." from Disk Utility's Images menu, navigate to and select your disk image file.

That's it....at the end of the burn process you'll have a DVD capable of being played on set top DVD players. Like most DVD's though, the make is important and you may need to experiment to find the specific one that works with your player/PS3. Map
